My roll?
Concept developer and designer

When?
2021-2022

The Science Gallery of the Erasmus Hospital bridges the gap between science, art, and the general public. Globally, there are multiple Science Galleries, which present whatever they’re working on to each other at conferences. In this case, the presentation was about the Disaster Prevention and Preparedness Center, which researches disasters. Pretty quickly, it became clear to me that this topic was quite interdisciplinary. So, how could we facilitate a proper dialogue about it?

Along with students of the Art Academy and medical students, we created content for the Stakeholder Game. The students came up with themes and indicated which stakeholders they deemed important in the city. After that, I designed the game, which can be played both in-person and online.

How do we make sure society is livable for everyone?

The purpose of the game is to improve cooperation in a complex democracy. How can we compromise and resolve larger issues? How do we make sure society is livable for everyone? How do you let your voice be heard and protect your core values, while still finding a middle ground?

Eventually, the game was played at the annual conference of Science Galleries. It was partly inspired by (Rotterdam) heritage, polder democracy, and a multicultural society. It stimulates the consideration of potential future collaborations, and is still available by request.
